🐾 Meet Perola – A Beautiful Second Chance

Perola’s story began at Orange County Animal Services, where she was adopted about a month ago by a wonderful Brazilian couple. They were looking for a companion for their French Bulldog, Chanel, and instantly fell in love with this sweet dog they named Perola — which means “Pearl” in Portuguese.

Perola is a beautiful 2-year-old female dog with a unique brown merle and white coat and charming white markings on her chest and legs. She weighs about 40–45 pounds and has a gentle, affectionate personality. While she was at the shelter, she shared a kennel with another dog, which suggests she can be comfortable around other pets.

Unfortunately, after bringing Perola home, it became clear that she and Chanel were not getting along well despite everyone’s best efforts. After careful consideration, Michelle and Douglas made the difficult but loving decision to look for a better environment where Perola can thrive.

Perola is currently undergoing treatment for heartworm disease, which began immediately after her adoption. The good news is that her treatment has already been fully sponsored, meaning her new family will not need to pay for the heartworm treatment itself. The process mainly requires attending scheduled veterinary visits over the next few months as she completes recovery.
